Our process

Jacket Production Process

Every step managed and quality-checked, from fabric sourcing and sampling to seam sealing and bulk delivery.

Jacket tech pack design review: shell fabric, lining, pockets, and hardware specs confirmed

Design and Tech Pack

Your jacket design is reviewed for shell fabric, lining, pocket layout, zipper type and gauge, ribbing specs (for bombers and varsity styles), and any seam sealing or DWR requirements. All hardware (zipper pulls, snaps, buttons) and insulation specs are confirmed before sampling begins.

Jacket fabric sourcing and sampling: shell and lining water resistance and weight verification

Fabric Sourcing and Sampling

Shell and lining fabrics are sourced and tested: water resistance (spray test), colorfastness, and weight verification. For insulated styles, baffled insulation fill power or synthetic gram weight is confirmed. A first fit sample is sewn in production fabrics and reviewed for silhouette, pocket placement, zipper function, and finish quality.

Jacket bulk production: cut and sew outerwear construction and hardware setting Los Angeles

Bulk Production

Shell panels are cut with precision markers for consistent sizing across sizes. Assembly includes lining attachment, zipper installation, pocket construction, hardware setting, and band or ribbing attachment. Seam sealing and DWR treatment are applied as specified. In-line QC checks at each assembly station.

Jacket quality control and delivery: seam integrity, DWR test, and final inspection Los Angeles

QC and Delivery

Final inspection checks measurements at all size points, seam integrity (pull test), zipper function, DWR performance (spray test), seam seal coverage, and hardware security. Packed per your spec: folded, poly-bagged, or retail-ready with custom hang tags and branded packaging.

Jacket Manufacturing FAQ

We manufacture a wide range of jacket styles including bomber jackets, puffer and quilted jackets, windbreakers, coach jackets, varsity and letterman jackets, trucker jackets, harrington jackets, field jackets, softshell jackets, and track jackets. Each style has unique construction requirements: puffers need baffled or channel-quilted insulation; bombers require ribbed cuffs and hem bands; varsity jackets need leather or faux leather sleeve attachment. We work from your tech pack or develop one from reference garments.
Shell fabric selection depends on the jacket style, weight class, and performance requirements. Nylon and polyester (ripstop, taffeta, Oxford, and twill weaves) are the standard for bomber, windbreaker, and packable jacket shells. Cotton canvas and waxed cotton are used for trucker, field, and chore jacket styles. Wool and wool blends are used for varsity, overcoat, and topcoat silhouettes. Technical fabrics include softshell (bonded fleece-back polyester), 3-layer laminate, and PU-coated nylons for water resistance. We source from LA and internationally certified mills to match your performance spec and price point.
Full package manufacturing covers every production step from material to finished garment: shell and lining fabric sourcing, pattern making, fit sampling, bulk shell cutting, lining attachment, zipper and hardware installation, seam sealing, DWR or other finish treatment, quality inspection, and branded packaging. You submit your tech pack and approve the fit sample; we handle all vendor coordination, material procurement, and production operations. Full package is preferred by most brands because it reduces the number of vendors you manage and removes the risk of sourcing incorrect fabrics or hardware for outerwear construction.
Our minimum is 50 pieces per style per colorway. Outerwear construction is more technically demanding than basic apparel: lining attachment, zipper installation, hardware setting, and optional seam sealing or DWR treatment all add production steps that require setup minimums. For full private label jackets with custom woven labels, embroidered patches, custom zipper pulls, and retail hang tags, we recommend 100 pieces minimum. Volume orders of 500 or more pieces qualify for tiered pricing.
Yes. Seam sealing and DWR (durable water repellent) coating are standard finishing options for outerwear. Seam sealing applies a thermoplastic tape or liquid sealant to the interior of sewn seams, blocking water from penetrating through needle holes. Critical seam sealing covers the shoulder and back seams most exposed to rain. Full seam sealing covers all exterior seams. DWR is a fluorinated or PFC-free coating applied to the outer shell fabric, causing water to bead and roll off rather than soaking in. DWR is tested with a water spray and graded before production is approved. Both treatments require compatible shell fabrics (typically coated nylons and polyesters).
Insulation options include down fill (600, 650, or 800 fill power), synthetic down alternatives such as PrimaLoft, Thinsulate, and Polyfill, and batting insulation for quilted styles. Down provides the best warmth-to-weight ratio but requires a down-proof shell fabric (300 thread count minimum) and is not vegan. PrimaLoft and other synthetic alternatives perform better when wet and are preferred for performance and vegan brands. Insulation is either baffled (box or through-stitch channels that prevent fill migration) or continuous (flat batting). Channel quilting uses decorative stitch lines that also serve a functional role in keeping insulation evenly distributed.
Lining options include taffeta (lightweight, smooth, standard outerwear lining), mesh (breathable, used in windbreakers and track jackets), fleece (warm lining, common in softshell and coach jackets), and quilted lining (adds warmth without separate insulation layer). Interior pocket configurations include chest zip pockets, slash pockets, mesh organizer pockets, and Napoleon pockets. Exterior pockets include welt pockets, patch pockets, zip pockets, and hand warmer pockets. Hardware options include YKK coil and vislon zippers, snap buttons, magnetic closures, drawcord and cord locks, and logo-engraved zipper pulls. All pocket and hardware specs are confirmed in the tech pack before sampling.
Yes. Many of our clients are startup outerwear brands or established basics brands adding a jacket style for the first time. Low MOQ minimums of 50 pieces per style make a first jacket run viable. The process starts with a tech pack review (we can help develop one if you have reference garments), then shell and lining fabric selection from our in-stock library, then a fit sample at production cost. Most brands go through one or two fit adjustments before bulk approval. Lead time for a first jacket from tech pack submission to sample delivery is typically 3-4 weeks; bulk production follows after sample approval.
Yes. Volume orders of 500 or more pieces qualify for tiered pricing, typically 8-12% savings per additional 250-piece tier. Volume outerwear orders receive dedicated production scheduling, priority hardware and lining allocation, and a dedicated QC inspector for the full production run. Styles can be mixed within a volume run as long as each individual style meets the 50-piece per colorway minimum. Rush timelines can be negotiated for volume orders placed with sufficient lead time.
